ZAGREB, March 28 (Hina) - The Croatian environmental protection ministry's nature preservation inspection has confiscated 105 dead birds from an Italian citizen who tried to smuggle them from Croatia into his country. Seventy-four of
the birds are protected by the Law on Nature Preservation.

Customs officials fined the smuggler with 100,000 kuna. Criminal
proceedings will be initiated.
This is the second case of bird smuggling made public in a short
period of time. In both cases, the smugglers were Italians.
