ZAGREB, March 28 (Hina) - Most party benches in the Croatian
parliament on Friday supported a government-sponsored health care
bill in the first reading, while the opposition, not including the
Democratic Centre, suggested the first reading of the bill be
treated as an "introductory discussion". #L#
The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) objects that the bill was
forwarded to parliament without other previously announced health
reform laws on doctors, dentists, nurses, medicines, pharmacy and
patients' rights.
Other benches, including those of the ruling coalition, called on
the government to send the said bills into parliamentary procedure
before the bill on health care was sent into the second reading, so
that health legislation and its effects could be analysed in a
comprehensive manner.
Health Minister Andro Vlahusic promised that the bills would be
forwarded into procedure next month, adding delays could be
expected only regarding the bill on patients' rights.
