ZAGREB, March 27 (Hina) - Dubrovnik Bridge and the Adriatic Highway in southern Croatia's Split area have been closed for all traffic due to protests by representatives of the HVIDR-a association of disabled war veterans, the Croatian Motoring Club said on Thursday. #L# According to reports from journalists on the scene, traffic has also been stopped near Zadar and Sinj. Road blocks near Stobrec have been removed. HVIDR-a and the National Centre for the Protection of Homeland War Values in the northern Medjimurje and Varazdin Counties scrapped plans to block roads. They said they supported HVIDR-a's initiative to turn attention to the problems faced by war veterans, including disabled ones. They believe, however, that blocking roads in said two counties at present is no way to resolve problems as it does not achieve long-term goals. At noon HVIDR-a and war veterans' associations in the Cetina region blocked the Zagreb-Split road in Sinj and the bridge on the Sinj- Imotski road in Trilj. Some roads have also been blocked near Zadar and Bibinje, the south section of the Adriatic Highway near Dubrovnik, Split, Solin, Omis, and the island of Pag. Not one incident has been recorded to date. Police are supervising all assembly areas but have not intervened. (hina) ha sb
