The delegation met mayor Ivan Cehok, the president of the Town
Assembly, Dubravka Kanotti, and county prefect Zvonimir Sabati.
Cehok informed the guests about the town's historical and cultural
tradition and membership in some European associations.
Asked by MP Miroslav Korenika whether the European Parliament would
endorse candidate-countries' individual admission to the EU, Pack
said that the Parliament still had not officially responded to
Croatia's application for EU membership as that issue had to be
addressed by the Council of Ministers first. The application was
endorsed by the Parliament's foreign affairs committee in a vote on
the EU's expansion to ten candidate-countries, she said.
Participants in the talks voiced hope that Croatia would meet all
requirements for admission and continue cooperating with the U.N.
war crimes tribunal in The Hague.
