The Presidency expressed hope that the war in Iraq would not cause
the suffering of civilians and requested competent authorities in
Bosnia-Herzegovina to take all necessary security measures from
within their jurisdiction.
Bosnian Foreign Minister Mladen Ivanic also expressed regret that
efforts to solve the Iraqi crisis in a peaceful way had failed.
"It is now vital to preserve the United Nations as an organisation,"
Ivanic said, adding that Bosnia-Herzegovina expected the most
important international factors, especially permanent members of
the Security Council, to overcome differences and agree on a joint
approach to the Iraqi crisis in order to enable the functioning of
the international order.
Bosnia-Herzegovina expects that the conflict in Iraq will not last
long, Ivanic said, adding it was most important at the moment to
keep the number of victims at the lowest possible level.
