The HAC company's CEO Stanko Kovac on Wednesday briefed journalists
about the HAC new working plan for the year. Kovac pointed out that
with the full implementation of the five-year plan, around 1,365 km
of the network of highways will have been put to use.
The projects include the construction of the Zagreb-Split Highway
and the completion of the Zagreb-Rijeka Highway.
Speaking about HAC investments, Kovac said that around 4.3 billion
kuna will be invested during the year.
HAC will intensify road maintenance and repairs on major highways.
This spring the reconstruction of about 100 km of existing highways
will start with the replacement of the top level of tar. This
investment will cost around 349.1 million kuna. Funding for the
projects will be secured through loans that were granted at the end
of 2002 by the European Investment Bank and the EBRD (the European
Bank for Reconstruction and Development).
Of the total of 20.9 billion kuna required for HAC's intended
activities in the period between 2001 - 2005, tolls will amount to
around 8.6 billion.
However, as it is planned to invest a total of 16.2 billion kuna for
the construction of roads and 1.1 billion for maintenance, a
deficit of 12.3 billion still exists which will be covered by loans
amounting to a total of 12.6 billion kuna.
Expenditure of 5.4 billion kuna is intended for 2003 of which 1.7
billion will be supplied by HAC, leaving 3.6 billion to be covered
by loans.
