Iraqi crisis. #L#
Drnovsek told Slovene Radio there had not been enough time either in
America or Europe to reach a compromise on the Iraqi crisis.
However, after the intervention, Europe and America will probably
reach a compromise regarding the reconstruction of Iraq, and
Slovenia is ready to participate in that process like other
European states, the PM said. What worries Europeans more than the
current crisis is a model of unilateral interventions which could
be frequently applied in the future, he added.
Commenting on US President George Bush's speech giving Saddam
Hussein an ultimatum, Drnovsek said the only surprising element in
it was that the ultimatum was being linked to Hussein's stepping
down, even though Resolution 1441 linked the intervention against
Iraq to the discovery of weapons of mass destruction and not the
change of the regime.
