This criminal attack was perceived in Croatia as an attack on
democratic efforts and processes in Serbia, Racan said in the
government building on Wednesday afternoon.
"This is yet another warning that we still live in an unstable
region," he said, expressing hope the process of democratisation in
Serbia would nevertheless continue.
The PM added that Croatia, as a democratic and stable country,
wanted to build good relations with its neighbours and contribute
to regional stability.
He confirmed reports on a state of emergency having been imposed in
Serbia, adding that the closure of airports was a logical step in
the current situation.
Asked how this situation would reflect on Croatia, Racan said that
Croatia would take appropriate measures.
Croatia wants to continue normalising relations with Serbia and
hopes that is Serbia's commitment as well, he said.
It is important how democratic forces and institutions in Serbia
will respond to the current situation, Racan said, adding that
information at hand indicated that the response would be positive.
