Djindjic was shot twice in front of the government building in the
early afternoon hours with sniper fire from an adjacent building.
Immediately after the shooting, police arrested three persons, but
the interior ministry has not officially confirmed this
information.
Police have blocked all roads around the government building and
have been searching vehicles for hours. All flights from Belgrade
airport have been cancelled indefinitely.
Shortly after 3pm, the Serbian government began an emergency
session with a minute of silence.
According to unofficial sources, there is a possibility that the
government declares a state of emergency after its session.
