stadium.

Kosovo leaders, who held speeches at the event, were unanimous in
the assertion that with their armed struggle local Albanians voiced
in the most evident way their wish to have independence for Kosovo.
March 5 has been declared a national holiday in tribute to Adem
Jashari, one of the leaders of the ethnic Albanians' resistance to
Serb authorities, who was killed by Serb forces in the village of
Drenica on that day in 1998. Besides Jashari, 20 members of his
family were killed in that massacre.
