political contacts, despite the postponement of a visit of the Duke

"We are explicitly told that all contacts on the political level
remain as intensive as they have been so far," Ambassador Josko Paro
told Hina.
He added that it was confirmed that Croatian Premier Ivica Racan
would arrive in the British capital on 18 March on a two-day visit
where he should lobby for Croatia's bids to enter the European
Union.
British Foreign Office informed Paro that the visit of Prince
Andrew, would be delayed due to Croatia's insufficient cooperation
with the UN war crimes tribunal in The Hague.
"The Office has said that with regard to (ICTY Chief Prosecutor)
Carla del Ponte's stand on the Croatian cooperation with the
tribunal, they could not expose a member of the Royal Family to a
controversial visit to Croatia," Paro said.
The tour of the Duke of York, who should have come to support the
activities of British business people in Croatia, was postponed
first time last September in the wake of the case of General Janko
Bobetko.
The Office of Croatian President Stjepan Mesic, who was to be Prince
Andrew's host, has been notified about the new postponement.
