ZAGREB, Feb 26 (Hina) - The Constitutional Court decided by a majority vote on Wednesday that the right of MPs to receive pensions is not contentious according to the Constitution.

Ten of a total of 12 constitutional judges claim the right is not
contrary to the principles of equality among citizens, social
justice and the rule of law.
The foundation of Croatian pensioners and the Federation of the
Independent Unions of Croatia claimed that amendments to the law on
the rights of members of parliament, dating 1995, 1999 and 2000,
were not in line with the Constitution.
The amendment dating 2001, which reduces pensions of MPs, was also
disputed by former MP to the House of Counties, Djuro Panjan.
