The Assembly of Serbia will then be required to elect 91 MPs to the
federal parliament while the Assembly of Montenegro will have 35
MPs. MPs for the federal parliament are to be chosen from the
republic parliaments and the current federal assembly.
MPs will be elected for a mandate of two years after which elections
should be called for the Assembly of Serbia and Montenegro.
Each party should have as many MPs in the federal assembly on par to
the number they have in the Assembly of Serbia. The ruling DOS
coalition will therefore have 37 MPs in the joint parliament while
the Democratic Party of Serbia, headed by Vojislav Kostunica, will
have 17, Slobodan Milosevic's Socialist Party of Serbia will have
12, Vojislav Seselj's Serbian Radical Party will have eight and so
on.
