ZAGREB, Feb 7 (Hina) - The Presidency of the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences (HAZU) has sent a letter to the parliament, expressing its opinions and concerns regarding the Draft Project on the Croatian Education System for the
21st Century. It endorses the intention of the government to endorse Croatia's joining developed countries by modernising its education system, but expresses deep concern with the possibility that hasty and insufficiently prepared demands could destabilise the education system and further undermine its quality.

The Presidency also says that instead of excessively concentrating
on pedagogy, more attention should be paid to acquiring general
expert knowledge. These are of great importance in modern
innovative societies, so any change to the Croatian education
system should primarily lean towards improving the quality of such
knowledge, the HAZU Presidency said.
It also suggested several measures for the improving of the school
system.
