The daily writes that Montgomery and the chief of the U.S. office in
Pristina, Rino Harnish, spent the past several days in talks with
Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica and Serbia's Prime Minister
Zoran Djindjic, relaying to them a message from the U.S.
Administration that the United States opposed and immediate start
of solving the status of Kosovo, with which Kostunica agreed, while
Djindjic refused at the first moment.
"Montgomery stressed that insisting on opening the problem of
Kosovo could have bad consequences for the country and could
deteriorate relations with the U.S., as well as result in the denial
of economic assistance to Serbia," Blic cited its source.
