One has to establish if part of the government was misled by
"counterfeit" bids for the purchase of Suncani Hvar and if certain
interests were behind that, Drazen Budisa told a news conference.
"That will no longer be a job for the Croatian parliament but the
police and the state prosecutor's office, because the Suncani Hvar
affair may have gained a new dimension, involving murky dealings in
privatisation and the corruption of senior state officials."
Budisa announced his party's bench would move in parliament today
that the next parliamentary session include a debate at which the
prime minister would speak about all the developments in connection
with the decision to sell Suncani Hvar.
Budisa said the HSLS today would also move revoking a ratified
Croatia-Slovenia deal on the Krsko nuclear power plant because the
Slovene government had not approved it by the end of last year. He
recalled parliament had adopted a conclusion under which it would
reconsider the validity of the deal if the Slovenes failed to ratify
it by 2003.
Budisa also advocated early elections, saying "this government has
once again shown it is not willing to come to grips with crime" and
that "crime has seeped into its ranks or the institutions under its
supervision".
