MOSTAR, Jan 29 (Hina) - The multi-national division of the
Stabilisation Forces in the southeast sector has not yet received
any special instructions or orders how to behave in case of possible
US intervention in Iraq, spokesman for the SFOR division Christophe
Fix told Hina on Wednesday. #L#
Fix commented on the latest headlines in the Bosnian press that in
case of U.S. attacks on Iraq, special SFOR forces would block the
activities of several Islamic humanitarian organisations in Bosnia
and, depending on assessments by intelligence services, arrest
persons suspected of potential collaborators with the Al-Qaida.
The SFOR spokesman confirmed that about 360 new soldiers from the
German-French brigade, currently based in Germany, were going to be
deployed to Bosnia. Fix claims that this was an usual exchange of
forces and not some anti-American German-French alliance in the
context of a possible attack on Iraq. The German-French brigade has
existed for over 40 years and soldiers from the brigade have already
been deployed to Bosnia when there was not even a hint of any war
with Iraq. There is no rivalry with US forces, Fix said.
