ZAGREB, Jan 28 (Hina) - In 2002 the Croatian Supreme Court reduced the number of unsolved cases by 24.5%, although it received around 200 cases more than the year before, court officials stated on Tuesday.

The gradual reduction of backlogs continues, as can be seen from the
fact that there were 5,268 unsolved cases at the end of 2002, which
was 1,711 cases less than in late 2001.
Along with a backlog of 6,979 unsolved cases from 2001, the court
received 7,149 new cases in 2002. The court solved a total of 8,860
cases last year, leaving 5,268 cases to be dealt with this year.
