ZAGREB, Jan 23 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Thursday decorated former military chief-of-staff Petar Stipetic and presented Josip Lucic and Slavko Baric with decisions appointing them new chief-of-staff and new deputy
chief-of-staff respectively.

Retired General Stipetic was decorated with the order of King Petar
Kresimir IV, with sash and Morning Star, for his outstanding
contribution to the development of military strategy, the creation
of the Croatian army, and for leading and building military units in
the Homeland War.
Addressing the new chief-of-staff, Major General Josip Lucic,
Mesic stated he expected the new leadership of the armed forces
would succeed in completing the development of the Croatian
military in line with NATO standards and that it would be prepared
to defend the country and take part in foreign peace missions.
Appointment decisions were also handed to the new commanders of the
army, navy, and airforce -- General Marijan Marekovic, Commodore
Zdravko Kardum, and Brigadier Viktor Koprivnjak.
