for the SFOR in Bosnia, Yves Vanier, told Hina Tuesday. #L#
The investigation is underway and interviews are still being
conducted, Vanier said, refusing to divulge the number of soldiers
under investigation or their nationality.
More than a month ago, Vanier said the SFOR would insist on a
thorough investigation into the incident and pledged that those
responsible would be punished.
SFOR chief commander, Lieutenant General William Ward, sent an
official letter of apology to Croatia, stating that a thorough
probe would result in fast and adequate sanctions against those
responsible for the incident.
Unofficial sources have reported that the soldiers who destroyed
the Wall of Pain, which has been erected in memory of killed and
missing Croatian soldiers and civilians, have been transferred
from Zagreb to Sarajevo.
Zagreb police have handed the investigation and charges over to the
SFOR Military Police, and therefore no longer have jurisdiction
over the case. SFOR soldiers have invoked immunity.
