SERBIAN POLICE KNEW ABOUT TRANSPORT OF BODIES FROM KOSOVO

BELGRADE, Jan 13 (Hina) - A former commander of the Serbian Interior Ministry's Special Anti-Terrorist Units (SAJ) and the new deputy commissioner of the Security Institute, Zivko Trajkovic, on Monday told Radio B92 that, along with other senior police officials, he had known about refrigerator trucks in which the corpses of Albanian civilians had been transported from Kosovo to locations in Serbia, including on the grounds of the SAJ training centre in Batajnica.
#L# Trajkovic said he had learnt of this at the funeral of his driver who was killed when their truck drove over an anti-tank mine in Kosovo. Trajkovic was wounded in the incident. "The then head of the SAJ training centre told me the Ministry had issued an order for some trucks to arrive, that it was a state secret and should not be revealed to anybody, under the price of life," said Trajkovic. He told the radio he had not yet been contacted by the Hague-based UN war crimes tribunal to testify in the case against former Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic. The public found out about the refrigerator trucks which carried the bodies of killed Albanian civilians after the testimonies of people who found one such truck in the Danube near Kladovo in the spring of 2001. Soon afterwards, a mass grave was found in Batajnica, which has been partially exhumed. The exhumation will continue this spring. The head of Serbian Interior Ministry's organised crime department, Dragan Karleusa, repeatedly said that there were more mass graves in Serbia containing the bodies of killed Albanian civilians from Kosovo, but he did not specify their locations.
