SPLIT, Jan 4 (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) on
Saturday marked the 13th anniversary of the establishment of its
branch in Split. Addressing about 700 members of this strongest
opposition party who gathered in the biggest Croatian coastal city,
the HDZ President, Ivo Sanader, said the Croatia people would feel
much better in 2003 as the HDZ, as he said, would win elections and
come into power. #L#
He asserted that the incumbent ruling coalition led the country to
such situation that Croatia had lost confidence in itself, and the
Ivica Racan government pushed the country to the brink of
collapse.
"On the occasion of the third anniversary after the coalition came
into power, Racan said the Croatian people did not see or recognise
the success. This means, according to Racan, that not the
authorities but the people should be changed," Sanader said.
The HDZ leader announced that his party had drawn up a plan for
Croatia. He said the plan would be one of arguments which the HDZ
would use to win the elections and added that it would be made public
when it suited the HDZ.
"We would like to see good cooperation with our neighbours,
particularly those in the east so that their situation may be
stabilised, as it is in our interest too. We want good relations
with Slovenia (...) but not in such was that we buy good ties by our
territory," the HDZ chief said in Split.
