ZAGREB, Dec 23 (Hina) - The presidential candidate of the Croatian Democratic Union, Jadranka Kosor, on Thursday evening held an election rally in Zagreb at which she promised to strongly advocate national interests if elected president.

Kosor said her first move when she became president would be to request the government to walk out of the Druzba Adria oil transport project which she said would turn the Adriatic Sea into a dead sea.

She criticised President Stjepan Mesic for making fun of her attempts to help the needy, the humiliated and war veterans, as well as of the fact that she attended exhumations of mass graves. "I am not crying, I am trying to help and I want Mesic to know that one cannot make jokes at such places. I expect his apology and do not want to communicate with him until he apologises."

The rally was attended by parliamentary deputies, ministers, state secretaries and assistant ministers from the HDZ.
