ZAGREB, Dec 23 (Hina) - Lawyers representing fugitive General AnteGotovina said on Thursday that their client's name had frequently beenused for political purposes, and called on politicians to dedicatethemselves to resolving the
general's situation rather than scorecheap political points "on the unfounded second indictment againstGeneral Gotovina".

Gotovina said on Thursday that their client's name had frequently been used for
political purposes, and called on politicians to dedicate themselves to
resolving the general's situation rather than score cheap political points "on
the unfounded second indictment against General Gotovina"."General Gotovina has never dealt with politics, and politics has never
been his life's goal. Unfortunately, because of politics and omnipresent
politicking, General Gotovina was accused by the Hague tribunal on the basis of
falsified documents that were made available to the tribunal's prosecution by
political rather than legal decision," lawyers Luka Misetic, Ante Vukorepa, Ivo
Farcic, Marijan Pedisic and Marin Ivanovic said in a statement.
"At the same time, we wish to distance ourselves from any attempts to
associate General Gotovina's family or us as his defence team with any
political option," the lawyers said.
