ZAGREB, Dec 1 (Hina) - There are 17 days left to improve Croatia's
image which, after five years of constant improval, has been seriously damaged,
a vice president of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) and HSLS
presidential candidate, Djurdja Adlesic, said on Wednesday expressing
dissatisfaction with the fact that "spies" were the main news ahead of December
17, when a date for the start of Croatia-EU accession talks is expected to be
set.Spies have been on newspaper front pages for the past five days, and
when something like that happens, it means that the country is not living in
peace and that its democratic image is questionable, Adlesic said at a news
conference.
Adlesic said that disagreements between President Stjepan Mesic and
Prime Minister Ivo Sanader over a recent intelligence scandal could cause harm
to Croatia's reputation ahead of the EU entry talks.
She called on Mesic and Sanader to launch strong diplomatic activities
as soon as possible.
