The pair, citizens of Serbia and Montenegro, were arrested last Saturday in Zagreb's central Ban Jelacic Square where they were taking pictures of themselves while holding a photograph of notorious WW2 Serbian Chetnik Movement leader and war criminal Draza Mihailovic.
The court said it had taken into account Vranesevic's appeal and reduced his sentence, while the appeal filed by Djergovic had been rejected.
Zagreb police spokeswoman Gordana Vulama told Hina that Djergovic had left the Remetinec prison and police premises under the escort of an official of the Serbia and Montenegro Embassy in Zagreb. She added that Djergovic was ordered by the court to leave Croatia within a reasonable period of time and that she was banned from entering the country for 180 days.
The Zagreb Magistrate's Court sentenced the two students for disturbing the peace, insulting the moral sentiments of the public, and for impudent behaviour.
Charges against a third student were dropped for lack of evidence that she had been involved in the incident.
Vranesevic and Djerkovic arrived last Saturday with a group of students from Belgrade to see the exhibition "Dora Maar and Picasso" in Zagreb. They separated from the group to take pictures of themselves with a Draza Mihailovic poster. The case was reported to the police by angry citizens.
