The government said in a special statement issued on Wednesday it shared the values, objectives and principles enshrined in the Constitutional Treaty, and considered it a valuable step in the continuous development of common European life and future.
The government expressed its readiness to begin membership talks with the European Union, saying that Croatia, as a future member, would contribute to the grand project of European integration and to strengthening societies based on the principles of peace, freedom, democracy, human rights, security, solidarity and economic prosperity.
Prime Minister Ivo Sanader confirmed he would attend the signing ceremony in Rome on October 29.
