ZAGREB, Nov 2 (Hina) - The Croatian parliamentary committee on
petitions and complaints on Tuesday did not make a decision about a petition
submitted by a group of citizens from Stubicka Slatina who are opposing the
government's decision to build a reception centre for asylum seekers in their
town. The head of the committee, Anto Djapic, said the committee should adopt
the decision by the end of the week, adding that this would not be easy given
that both the citizens of Stubicka Slatina and the Croatian Interior Ministry
were firm in their standpoints.
Stubicka Slatina citizens have said that the building of the centre for
asylum seekers in a former barracks would prevent local entrepreneurs from
using that space for business activities.
