ZAGREB, Oct 5 (Hina) - The Chairmen of the Croatian Parliament's Home Policy and National Security Committee and Foreign Policy Committee, Ivan Jarnjak and Gordan Jandrokovic respectively, received the Hungarian Ambassador to Croatia, Laszlo Mohai, in Zagreb on Tuesday, the Parliament Public Relations Office said in a press release.

Mohai said he saw Croatia as a strategic partner that would soon join the European Union and NATO, adding that on September 1 the Hungarian Embassy had taken over from the French Embassy the role of contact embassy for potential NATO members.

Mohai said that the Hungarian Parliament Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee had submitted to the Croatian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry for European Integration an action plan showing in what areas Hungary's experience could be of assistance to Croatia during its membership talks with the European Union.

Jarnjak described Hungary as an important strategic partner whose experience as a member of the EU and NATO could be useful to Croatia on its path to the EU, particularly with respect to national security issues.

Jandrokovic thanked Hungary for its unselfish support during the 1991-1995 war in Croatia, and said that Croatia needed its assistance and support to achieve its main political goals -- entry into the EU and NATO.
