The Croatian and Czech officials talked about cooperation between the two committees with an emphasis on negotiations on Croatia's joining the EU.
The Czech Republic is ready to share its experience with Croatia given that Croatia has an important role in the process of stabilisation of Southeast Europe, said Pavel Svoboda who is at the helm of the Czech delegation.
Croatia must meet all criteria -- political, economic and legislative -- to be able to join the EU and given that the majority of tasks has been completed the only thing left for Croatia to do it to enhance its competitiveness on the international market, Svoboda said.
He said the European Council had set 2005 as the year for the start of negotiations and said Croatia cold compete negotiations by the end of 2007 and join the EU in 2008 or 2009.
Mimica stressed that the Czech experience from the process of joining the EU was important to Croatia. the statement said.
