DUBROVNIK, Oct 29 (Hina) - Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov visited the southern Adriatic city of Dubrovnik on Friday and thus ended his two-day official stay in Croatia.

The Bulgarian president, accompanied by Dubrovnik-Neretva County prefect Ivan Sprlje and Dubrovnik mayor Dubravka Suica, visited the historical part of the city.

Bulgaria, which hopes to conclude negotiations on EU membership this year and sign an accession agreement with the Union in 2005, will continue to support Croatia on its path to European associations and share its experience, Croatian President Stjepan Mesic and his Bulgarian counterpart Georgi Parvanov said in Zagreb on Thursday.

"Bulgaria is several steps ahead of Croatia, which is about to launch EU entry talks. Bulgaria can help us not to make mistakes and accelerate the negotiating process," Mesic said.

"It is up to Croatia to meet the conditions necessary for admission to the EU. If Croatia succeeds in meeting all the conditions, I believe we will catch up and join the Union together with Bulgaria and Romania," Mesic said.

On Thursday, Parvanov also held talks with Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, Parliament Speaker Vladimir Seks and Zagreb mayor Vlasta Pavic.
