Mesic was speaking about the transcripts in response to questions from the press in the central coastal city of Zadar.
He said that until recently, the transcripts were in the care of a secretary, after whose departure he appointed a three-member commission to locate the transcripts recently mentioned in the media.
Mesic said the transcripts were located, as were other documents dating to 1995, and forwarded to the Government Office for Cooperation with the Hague war crimes tribunal. He added they are classified.
Mesic said that in the past he enabled access to transcripts which were not classified to show that some decisions were being made where they should not have been made.
The Justice Ministry confirmed today it received two photocopies of minutes from Mesic's Office on Tuesday. Given that they were classified, the ministry asked Mesic's Office to declassify them, which is expected to occur shortly.
A senior ministry official said he could not speak of the documents' contents as they are being declassified.
