RUPCIC NEGOTIATING WITH BOSNIAN PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE -- PRESS

SARAJEVO, Oct 8 (Hina) - A former director of the HercegovinaOsiguranje insurance company from Mostar, Miroslav Rupcic, isnegotiating with the Bosnian Herzegovina Prosecutor's Office onpleading guilty in the the Hercegovacka Bank case, the Bosnian mediareported on Friday.
SARAJEVO, Oct 8 (Hina) - A former director of the Hercegovina Osiguranje insurance company from Mostar, Miroslav Rupcic, is negotiating with the Bosnian Herzegovina Prosecutor's Office on pleading guilty in the the Hercegovacka Bank case, the Bosnian media reported on Friday.

Rupcic's attorney Marko Martinovic told Bosnian Dnevni Avaz daily that intensive negotiations were being conducted with Canadian prosecutor John McNair who is leading the case against Ante Jelavic and another five former Bosnian Croat officials charged with embezzlement of the money the Republic of Croatia had earmarked for assisting Bosnian Croats.

Slobodna Bosna weekly said that in case a deal was reached with the prosecution, Rupcic could be sentenced to five and a half years in prison.

A former defence minister of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Federation, Miroslav Prce, who made a deal with the prosecutor's Office last week and pleaded guilty to misusing his position, was given a five-year jail sentence.
