ZAGREB/RIJEKA, Oct 4 (Hina) - A parliamentary deputy of the SocialDemocratic Party (SDP), Gordana Sobol, told a news conference inRijeka on Monday that the incumbent government's acceptance of thelatest stand-by arrangement with the
International Monetary Fund (IMF)was "an expression of the disastrous absence of any social andeconomic policy of the ruling (HDZ) party".
ZAGREB/RIJEKA, Oct 4 (Hina) - A parliamentary deputy of the Social
Democratic Party (SDP), Gordana Sobol, told a news conference in Rijeka on
Monday that the incumbent government's acceptance of the latest stand-by
arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was "an expression of
the disastrous absence of any social and economic policy of the ruling (HDZ)
party".The stand-by deal is full of restrictions which affect citizens'
standards," Sobol said.
Another MP of the SDP, Ivica Pancic, slammed the new draft act on
veterans from the Homeland Defence War, claiming that the bill, drafted by this
government, brought about nothing new in this field.
The SDP issued a press release on Monday supporting the announced
warning strike which teachers would hold on Tuesday in schools and
faculties.
This strongest opposition party urged the government to increase
teachers' salaries and improve their status in society.
