The chairman of the commission is Anto Djapic of the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP), and vice-chairman is Sime Prtenjaca of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), which proposed the establishment of this body.
The commission's secretary is Emil Tomljanovic of the HDZ, and the remaining four members are Dragica Zgrebec of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Josip Vresk of the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) and two HDZ MPs, Florijan Boras and Branimir Glavas.
The establishment of the commission was endorsed by 112 MPs, four abstained from voting, and three voted against.
During the vote for the appointment of the seven members, 96 MPs voted for this composition, six abstained and 15 were against the appointment of the said seven members.
The commission is expected to establish who are the real owners of the Viktor Lenac shipyard, reasons why the Ivica Racan government approved state guarantees to this ailing company, and whether some of those funds from the loans ended up abroad.
Before the voting, Glavas of the HDZ and Zeljka Antunovic of the SDP hurled insults at each other, and Antunovic voiced suspicion that the commission would be objective and unbiased as its member Glavas did not meet those criteria.
