The commission will consist of one representative from the government's office for drug abuse prevention, five representatives from ministries of the interior, justice, health, family affairs and the economy and a representative of the Croatian Journalists' Association (HND).
According to the motion, supported by all clubs of parliamentary parties, the drugs will be destroyed only after a final court ruling, and prior to the drugs destruction the commission could offer the seized drugs at the sale auction to pharmaceutical companies.
During a debate on the issue Frano Piplovic of the Democratic Centre (DC) proposed that an employee of the Croatian national news agency HINA be in the seven-member commission instead of a representative from the HND society.
Piplovic said the HND protected interests of its members and in this context it would care less for public interests, while a HINA representative would be a guarantee that the public would be informed timely on what was going on.
Sime Lucin of of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the government's representative opposed Piplovic's proposal as they believed that it would be more appropriate that an HND member was in the commission.
Thus, it remains that the seven-member commission includes one HND representative.
