HUS Vice President Ozren Matijasevic told a news conference in Split that this trade union federation was dissatisfied with the government's treatment of farmers and fishermen because, although finance and agriculture ministers Ivan Suker and Petar Cobankovic had promised that the price of blue diesel for those users would be cut below three kuna, it had actually risen to 3.49 kuna per litre.
The other two trade union federations issued press releases urging the government to take some measures in the light of the fact that only one third of the price per litre of petrol went to the oil national company INA, while the government-imposed taxes and excises duties made up two-thirds of the price.
Urgent measures are necessary, or a wave of rising prices will sweep across the country and affect the standard of citizens, the unions warn.
