"During the talks, we stressed that for the first time after Croatian gained independence Slovenians have its representative in the Croatian Parliament," the chairman of Croatia's Human and Minority Rights Committee, Furio Radin said but added , however, that this did not solve the issue of removing the Slovene minority from the preamble to the Croatian Constitution.
Pusic said that according to the census conducted in 2001, the number of Croatian citizens who declare themselves as Slovenes had dramatically dropped. She said she supported the idea of reinstated the Slovene minority in the preamble of the Constitution.
Slovenians in Croatia represent one of the bridges which can help Croatia draw closer to the EU, Radin said.
