ZAGREB, Sept 13 (Hina) - Slovene Prime Minister Antun Rop's throwing fishing nets in the Bay of Savudrija on Saturday is a pre-election move, Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader said on Monday.

"I believe it to be part of the election campaign," Sanader said in an interview with Croatian Radio, recalling that parliamentary elections in Slovenia were scheduled for early October.

He dismissed criticisms from Slovenia that Croatia is trying to present Slovenia with an accomplished fact with regard to border issues.

"We are not presenting anyone with an accomplished fact, we are simply saying that we should opt for international arbitration if bilateral agreement isn't possible," Sanader said.

Croatia will not allow admission into the EU to be used to blackmail it, he added.

The outstanding border issue in the Bay of Savudrija has nothing to do with admission to the EU, it is an issue between two friendly countries, Sanader said.

He repeated that the border agreement initialled by the countries' former prime ministers, Janez Drnovsek and Ivica Racan, was a big mistake of the former Croatian government.

That agreement was not good and should be disregarded, Sanader said recalling that the agreement had not been signed, so Croatia could not ratify it.

Referring to that agreement now is completely unnecessary, because the agreement does not exist, Sanader said.
