VARAZDIN, Sept 9 (Hina) - A Social Democratic Party (SDP) member of
parliament and one of its vice-presidents, Mato Arlovic, said in Varazdin on
Thursday the latest arrangement between the government and the IMF considerably
departed from the Croatian Democratic Union's election promises and the
government's programme, and that his party believed that the electorate was
deceived. The SDP club of deputies has requested an urgent debate on the
arrangement because the document itself and the way it was signed showed a high
degree of the government's disregard for the parliament, Arlovic said.
Speaking about the government's programme, the SDP official said it
stopped development and consumption and drained budgetary funds.
SDP deputy Jelena Pavic Vukicevic warned that too little was being
invested into education while the competent ministry was spending money for
video spots promoting Science, Education and Sports Minister
Dragan Primorac.
