The government today appointed experts who will take care of operations and harmonise the work of all subjects involved with the coordinating body.
Starting with October 3 the coordinating body will provide Croatia with systematic control over 56,964 square kilometres of sea, including the Ecological and Fisheries Protection Zone, said Kalmeta, adding a Coast Guard would be set up next year.
The minister said there should be no problems with neighbours over the expanded jurisdiction in the Adriatic Sea since parliament decided that the new protected zone regime would not be applied to EU members until Croatia and the EU signed an agreement on partnership in fisheries.
The state secretary for the sea, Branko Bacic, said the coordinating body would have 586 employees in several ministries, 16 ships, 89 boats, six Pilatus planes, four Mi-8 helicopters, one pilotless aircraft, and the Peregrin radar system.
