SARAJEVO, Aug 24 (Hina) - The international community's High
Representative to Bosnia-Herzegovina, Paddy Ashdown, has announced the
downsizing of staff in the Office of the High Representative (OHR) by one
quarter as well as change of the role of the OHR to reflect progress which
Bosnia-Herzegovina has made towards full sovereignty and normalisation over the
recent years, his office reported on Tuesday. The fact that the OHR is able to reduce the number of employees by
almost one quarter is the sign of progress which Bosnia has made over the
recent years on its road towards full sovereignty. This has always been the
goal of the OHR: to be here until Bosnia starts irreversibly towards full
sovereignty and Europe, and then the OHR will leave the country, Ashdown said
in a press release.
Ashdown said that as a special representative of the European Union he
will have a more important role in the country's efforts to come closer to the
EU.
