The Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina party welcomed Furundzija's release, but the Society for Endangered Peoples voiced dissatisfaction.
The president of the society, Refika Memisevic, said the U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague was putting itself at risk of losing its credibility with the early release of Furundzija, as well as with the recent release of Tihomir Blaskic. She said the tribunal must make corrections in its work because justice was not served with the early releases of Furundzija and Blaskic from prison.
