ZAGREB, Aug 10 (Hina) - The Croatian Interior Ministry is
investigating into the circumstances under which the screws on the wheel of the
vehicle of deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Andrija Hebrang had been
unscrewed and in case of founded suspicion that an act of sabotage had been
committed the ministry will take appropriate measures, spokesman for the
ministry Zlatko Mehun said on Tuesday.
The story that Hebrang almost lost a wheel on an official vehicle was
published by Vjesnik daily. The daily cited the minister on Tuesday as saying
that about a month ago it was discovered that screws on the wheel of the
government's vehicle had been unscrewed and the wheel almost fell off during a
ride.
Hebrang said the police was investigating the case which is why he declined
to speak about details. He said, however, he did not believe this was an
attempt on his life but added it was interesting that the event took place only
several days after a decision on inviting public bids for the supply of
medical equipment had been adopted.
