ZAGREB, May 9 (Hina) - The Association of Disabled Croatian Homeland War Veterans (HVIDR-a) held an election assembly on Saturday at which Josip Djakic was elected president, replacing acting president Vinko Brkan.

The assembly at Plitvice Lakes was attended by 180 delegates.
Also in attendance was the minister of the family, war veterans and
inter-generation solidarity, Jadranka Kosor, who said the new draft
law on the rights of war veterans and their families would soon be
ready. She added the law would be viable, and that in the future care
for the victims of last decade's war of independence would be in the
hands of experts and not politicians.
HVIDR-a represents the interests of more than 30,000 disabled war
veterans.
