ZAGREB, May 5 (Hina) - The plane crash in which Macedonian President Boris Trajkovski was killed near Mostar in southern Bosnia-Herzegovina on February 26 was caused by a mistake made by the pilots, a commission which had been investigating the accident over the past two months established.#L# The head of the commission, Salko Begic, told reporters in Sarajevo on Wednesday the commission concluded on the basis of collected evidence and the 'black boxes' that the pilots made an orientation mistake while trying to land the plane at Mostar airport. Another element that led to the accident is the fact that the plane briefly lost contact with the radio navigation device which was to help the crew establish their exact position during the landing procedure. The possibility of flight control having made a mistake was eliminated because flight control could not have had an effect on determining the exact position of the plane, the commission said. According to Begic, the crew of the Macedonian presidential plane was physically and mentally fit for the flight, but despite years of experience the pilots did not adequately prepare for the flight, the commission concluded.
