ZAGREB, May 2 (Hina) - Judged by its health status, Croatia is in the group of the European Union's 15 most developed countries, according to a World Health Organisation ranking.#L# The WHO ranking of countries' health status is based on indicators ranging from life expectancy to the human development index. The recently published ranking of 192 countries, relying on data from 1999, is based on a unique method of evaluating the health status which divides countries into five groups based on the mortality of children under the age of six and of men aged 15-29. Croatia's health status is very good when compared to the 10 countries which joined the EU on May 1, placing it in the best group, which includes 15 EU members. Croatia's indicators are one degree above Poland's and Slovakia's, and two degrees above those for Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Croatia's indicators are also better than those for potential EU candidates Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. (Hina) ha
