ZAGREB, April 29 (Hina) - Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader on Thursday issued a message extending his best wishes to citizens on the occasion of International Labour Day, May 1, the government's public relations office said in a
statement.

"The improvement of the living standards of our citizens is one of the
priorities of the Government's programme which can be achieved only
through systematic partnership between entrepreneurs and the state in
economic activities.
"Today, when Croatia is safely on the road to European associations,
the Government is directing its efforts into the adoption of European
standards in all areas, especially in the area of labour and legal
protection of workers' rights," Sanader said adding that the
government supported and encouraged dialogue with its social partners,
unions and employers.
"Aware of the problem of unemployment, the Government is preparing a
programme with measures aimed at creating new jobs. The numerous
strategic measures are aimed at increasing production, stimulating
exports and increasing the competitiveness of Croatian products on
international markets," the PM said in the message.
