Mesic said Croatia was investing efforts into creating conditions for
various forms of employment, "which is why it is necessary to create a
positive atmosphere" promoting respect for workers' rights. Mesic said
this would be possible only with a consensus of all interested parties
in the process of exercising workers' rights.
Offering his best wishes for Labour Day, Parliament President Vladimir
Seks said that the European Commission's positive avis showed that the
international community had recognised Croatia's determination and
consistency on its path to full membership.
The president of the Opposition's Social Democratic Party Ivica Racan
also wished all the best to Croatian citizens for Labour Day.
