Minister Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres held a speech on the occasion of
the opening of the show in presence of Croatia's President Stjepan
Mesic who is together with his French counterpart Jacques Chirac the
sponsor of this event.
At the moment when your country is asking to be admitted to the Union,
this exhibition testifies how much you are close to us in the sense of
culture and how great this European spirit is, the French minister
said.
Masters and artists of Croat origin from the period of Renaissance who
made their works of art in European cities are the best example of the
joint European cultural heritage, Croatia's Culture Minister Bozo
Biskupic said in his speech.
The authors of the exhibition called 'Renaissance in Croatia' are
Miljenko Jurkovic, a professor at the Zagreb Faculty of Philosophy,
and Alain Erlande-Brandenburg, the director of the Museum of
Renaissance in Ecouen, in cooperation with many Croatian and French
galleries and institutions.
